Everything You Need to Feel Ready

We know starting therapy can feel overwhelming. This page walks you through what to expect, how to prepare, and how to make the most of your child's sessions.

What to Expect

Here's a general overview of how the therapy process works at Let's Talk Therapy Services Center.

1

Initial Consultation

We start with a brief phone or video call to learn about your child's needs, answer your questions, and determine if our services are a good fit.

2

Comprehensive Evaluation

A licensed SLP conducts a thorough evaluation using standardized assessments and clinical observation to understand your child's communication profile.

3

Personalized Treatment Plan

Based on evaluation results, we develop an individualized plan with clear goals, recommended frequency, and strategies you can use at home.

4

Ongoing Therapy Sessions

Sessions are engaging, play-based, and tailored to your child's age and goals. Progress is monitored and the plan is updated regularly.

5

Family Coaching & Home Practice

You are an essential part of the team. We provide strategies, activities, and guidance so you can support your child's progress between sessions.

How to Prepare for Your First Visit

Complete the intake forms before your appointment (see below).

Bring your child's insurance card and a valid photo ID.

Bring any prior evaluation reports, IEPs, or school records if available.

Note any specific concerns, behaviors, or milestones you've observed.

Bring a favorite toy or comfort item to help your child feel at ease.

Plan for enough time for the evaluation — every child is different.

Doctor Referral: If your doctor provided a referral for speech therapy, please bring it to your first visit. While not always required, it can help streamline coordination with your insurance.

Home Practice Tips

Progress happens between sessions too. Here are simple ways to support your child every day.

Follow your SLP's home program and practice activities for 10–15 minutes daily.

Read aloud together every day — books, labels, menus, anything!

Narrate daily routines: 'Now we're washing hands. First soap, then water.'

Reduce background noise during communication activities.

Celebrate all communication attempts — not just perfect words.

Share observations and questions with your SLP at each session.
